There are lots of young poeple who don't have degrees having problems to get a better job and keep it. Also, even if they have degrees, the economy is not good so they can't get better jobs.

These articles are very interesting, Riyo. The most terrible thing about the life of the working poor seems to be the fear, the anxiety and not being able to picture a future. As the case of the women who finally landed a good accounting job shows, anxiety remains even after one has 'made it.' This is much like the fears that stayed with Americans long after the Great Depression ended. Many people from that generation--like my parents, for example--could never completely trust banks or the promises of their leaders. Maybe such distrust is healthy.

I wasn't familiar with the communist author of "The Crab Factory Ship," Takiji Kobayashi. I'd like to read it. If workers now can relate to the cruel conditions on a ship in the early part of the previous century, things must be extremely dire.
